PHS students tire of graffiti and vandalism

By Candis McDow

Graffiti is something students can count on seeing at Pebblebrook. It is apparent that many students have no consideration for their school as well as their peers.

Graffiti is everywhere and hard to overlook. Graffiti can be found in bathrooms, walls in the hallways, as well as outside of the school.

It’s never really clear who does most of the damage at Pebblebrook, but one thing’s for certain, there are plenty of students that are contributing to the problem.

“I am so tired of kids being so immature. They obviously want attention that they are not getting a home, said senior Brooke Everette.

Many think that lack of attention at home affects the way a student acts at school. It may also be interpreted as a cry for help.

“Some people don’t know how to express themselves and the only way they can, is to let the world know! said junior Scott Davis

Other students believe there are deeper problems behind the vandalism.

“I don’t understand why they don’t get counseling. People who write graffiti on other people’s property obviously need help, said freshman Keisha Burks.

Counseling may or may not help someone that has a lot of bottled up problems, but everyone seems to agree that the problem is proof that many teenagers need someone to talk to and more outlets to express themselves.

Graffiti artists are often talented, but need to find ways to express themselves appropriately.

“I think that [students who draw graffiti] are bored, and they aren’t able to express their creativity freely, said junior Christopher Jenkins.
