Athlete of the issue: Starr Huff

Lady Falcon Junior Starr Huff is one of the starting five of the Lady Falcon basketball team. She happens to be one of the key players. There is always something interesting to find out about athletes, so here are some interesting questions asked to Starr Huff.

Brookspeak: Who inspired you to play basketball?

Starr Huff: My uncle Cedric Henderson, who played for the Atlanta Hawks and the Chicago Bulls in the NBA.

Brookspeak: Why do you love the game?

Starr Huff: [pause] Because I am very competitive, and I love to play against other people.

Brookspeak: What has been your favorite Pebblebrook moment?

Starr Huff: Pep Rallies and all of the basketball games.

Brookspeak: How do you prepare yourself before the season starts?

Starr Huff: I run the track, eat a lot of fruits, and go to the [recreation center] to take 100 shots a day.

Brookspeak: What do you think you did for your coach to notice you?

Starr Huff: I did a lot of hustling, and keeping nothing but a positive attitude on the court.

Brookspeak: What other responsibilities do you have outside of playing basketball?

Starr Huff: Taking care of my brothers and sisters, keeping my grades up, and continuing my search for a job.

Brookspeak: What is one thing that you have done that would shock everyone?

Starr Huff: When people get to see me play in a real basketball game.

Brookspeak: What is your future college plans?

Starr Huff: I plan to play college ball for the University of North Carolina or the University of Tennessee.

Brookspeak: Do you think you play an important role on the team?

Starr Huff: Yeah, [sigh] because some people are not basketball minded, you know when it comes to fundamentals.

Brookspeak: What do you think will be the outcome of the season?

Starr Huff: That we go to the playoffs

Brookspeak: Because you are involved in sports programs, do you think your relationship with males has improved or not?

Starr Huff: No, it’s still the same I just get a lot of attention and compliments after a game and stuff.

Brookspeak: Do you think your skills match your grades?

Starr Huff: [sigh] A little, [pause] my grades are a little bad but they are coming up though.

Brookspeak: Where do you see yourself doing after you complete college?

Starr Huff: I see myself playing in the WNBA, taking care of my family, and beginning to live BIG!
